Let Me Introduce Myself
Hi, I'm Jaclyn
I am a third generation Albertan, born and raised in Calgary. I have been in the fortunate position to have been able to learn from and contribute to operating, my family's construction company: Calgary Aggregate Recycling Ltd. A company which survived and thrived despite multiple recessions over the 40+ years we were in business prior to selling in 2017. A company still in operation with its new owners today and many of our long-term employees.
Whether it was stamping envelopes to earn television time, burning off summer boredom by filing, answering phones and adding ledgers, to a full-time position for 12 years, I built knowledge and skills in project management, bidding and estimating, contracts, permits and regulations, safety, accounting, and human resources, just to name a few.
While working at the company, I obtained two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Calgary, a Master’s from Central European University (Budapest, Hungary), and a law degree from the Open University (United Kingdom). Though I am not currently a practicing lawyer, my education specialized in the issues and policies related to human trafficking, refugees, as well as citizenship and immigration. Starting in 2008, I built a small real estate company that manages rental properties in Calgary and surrounding areas, which I still own and operate today.
After moving to Airdrie in 2015, I worked locally as a fitness instructor at Push Cycling Studio, Unity Fitness and Yoga, as well as at Genesis Place Recreation Center. In fact, I may have had the pleasure of teaching some of you!
I have also volunteered and competed athletically in Southern Alberta, Europe, and South America, all of which has given me the ability to learn first-hand how other cultures and cities handle the challenges they are faced with. Resources, knowledge, and networks I want to put to beneficial use for Airdrie, if elected to council in October.
